Cass Research Seminars:
Delight in Home Based Work

Pandemic Architecture: adapting to the architecture of home-based work.

The second seminar in the Pandemic Archiecture series will explore case studies of successful architectural practices built around home-based work, one in terms of its built form – Sarah Wigglesworth Architects (10-12 Stock Orchard Street, London); the other in its organisational design – Coppin Dockray Architects, a partnership whose workforce is distributed across locations and domestic situations.

Hundreds of thousands of people across the world have abruptly had to relocate their work to home over the past few days. International expert in design for home-based work Dr Frances Holliss is leading a series of Cass Research seminars to explore key issues raised when dwelling and workplace are combined.

Dr Frances Holliss is Emeritus Reader in Architecture at the Cass. An expert on the architecture of home-based work (www.theworkhome.com), she speaks internationally and has written widely on the subject, including Beyond Live/Work: the Architecture of Home-based Work (Routledge 2015) and DASH #15: ‘Home Work City’ (Nai010 2019).

This seminar will take place remotely, using Zoom, https://zoom.us/j/967080812

About Cass Research Seminars

Cass Research Seminars are a series of public conversations which enable researchers to test and present their ideas in conversation with peers and a broader audience. The sessions seek cross-fertilisation of ideas and provoke discussion. Typically, they consist of two to three presentations of 15 minutes each followed by chaired discussion.

We had a productive year in 2017/18. Presenters found that the session deepened their work and added unexpected avenues to their thinking. All are welcome at Cass Research Seminars, both from inside and outside The Cass.
